New research from NetValue indicates that online banking sites in Hong Kong
attracted record traffic in December 2001.

Over 471,000 home Internet users, or 32.3 percent of the online population,
banked online in December, up 110,300 since November 2001.

Internet users in Hong Kong now spend less time on banking sites than they
used to, however. Last December, the average time on banking websites per
user was 21.7 minutes, down almost 20 minutes since December 2000. NetValue
attributes this to the increasing comfort of Internet users with online
banking, and the simplification of their sites by banks.

HSBC.com.hk and hangseng.com, the two most popular online banking sites in
Hong Kong, are both part of the HSBC Group. The next most popular online
banking sites are aigcard.com, dashing.com, and Citibank.com.hk.
