    Jednym slowem milej lektury.

P.S. Szykuje juz miejsce (strone WWW), gdzie bede wrzucal wszystkie te
informacje (albo i wiecej ;). Start pewnie gdzies w wakacje.

HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd is confident that 50,000 of its customers would use
its e-banking facility by the end of 2002, said its chief information
    officer, Chu Hong Keong.

At present, the bank has 10,000 active customers using the e-banking
services, out of which 90 percent are using it to get information on their
    accounts and making cash transactions.

The London-headquartered bank is the first foreign bank in Malaysia to
launch full-fledged Internet banking service on Jan 1 2002.

"It is (10,000 customers) a very good start and we expect it to grow with
the extra e-banking features that would be added," Chu told reporters in a
briefing on "IT & Banking: Winning Customers Together," here today.

The bank's internet service, offers among others fund and telegraphic
transfers, share applications, bill payments, credit card advances, cheque
    book request and account statement.

HSBC's e-banking proposition provides timely information to customers, which
enables them to act quickly on the move and at the same, allow them to plan,
manage their financial transactions or needs ahead, he explained.

Asked on when would its e-banking start generating revenue, he said,
"E-banking is an investment for the future. The infrastructures are very
expensive and you can't see the return fast."

The return in e-banking very much depends on the computer penetration rate
    of the people.

, "You need to provide an upfront benefit for the customers and encourage
them to use it before you can see the returns," he said.

As such, the bank is embarking on a nationwide roadshow to promote its
comprehensive electronic banking services and create more awareness among
the people on advances of e-banking.

Chu said the roadshow would kick off at its Petaling Jaya branch for six
days starting from May 6 onwards and there after to all other major towns.

He added that the roadshow was part of HSBC's efforts to support the
government's drive towards greater adoption of Information & Communication
Technology (ICT) in the country, in particular the shift towards k-economy.

The bank which has one million customers with its 36 branches nationwide, is
one of the largest foreign banks in the country.

HSBC Malaysia has spent RM100 million for its Internet banking platform and
leveraged on the over US$1 billion (RM3.8 billion) internet investment made
    by the group.
