Global Finance, Bank Handlowy zdobył tytuł najlepszego banku w Polsce.
W uzasadnieniu nagrody podkreślono, ze wyróżnione w regionie banki
świadczyły usługi na najwyższym poziomie, mimo trudnej sytuacji gospodarczej
w roku ubiegłym.
Uroczyste wręczenie nagród odbędzie się we wrześniu w Dubaju, podczas
dorocznego spotkania International Monetary Fund i World Bank.

Strategy: Pekao is the leading light in a banking sector that itself is
heading Poland's economic recovery. By mid-April the bank's shares had risen
by almost 40% in 2002. That partly reflects a revolution sparked by
part-owners Unicredito and Allianz.The bank decided to defend interest
margins even at the cost of market share. That decision paid off in 2001:
Pekao hiked profits by 65% from 2000.

Innovation: Deploying Unicredito's Pioneer range of funds has helped grow
the bank's share of the investment fund market from 20% to 24% this year-an
important move, given a clear shift in customer preferences away from bank
deposits. The bank has introduced new products into the retail market, such
as debit cards and insurance.
